While You Were Napping

lets be honest, i wish they were napping

a few of my favorite things

so we ¬†are in El Paso…cricket cricket..yes its not that exciting to me either.

I am enjoying this time with my two big kids before the little one comes..we are 6 days out from Due Day..however I was told not to plan on her coming on time. Good old encouraging doctor. We have some days we would like to suggest as a birthday: 7/4..fireworks automatically every birthday, amazing! 7/6 I would love to share my birthday, 7/7 would be cool cause 7/7/14 (7+7=14..my son is 4+7=11), 7/8…her actual due date which would make her my favorite. ūüôā If they have to induce they said as a hospital they don’t until 41 weeks and 3 days…Tyler’s birthday is 4 days after that so he said well just keep her in until the 22…as one of my sweet friends said earlier..”oh so he wants you to birth a toddler” I laughed so hard.¬†

Funny story..So I’ve never had my water break on its own but since we are staying with family I have had this fear its going to break in a bed or on a rug that doesn’t belong to me. How embarrassing would that be…mortifying. Well the other night I was really hot when I went to sleep, I woke up and my pants were soaked..I kept thinking man I would think if my water broke I would feel it,There would have to be some type of significant movement to break it right? Did I just wet the bed..oh my goodness. Thankfully I felt this little movement on my back..apparently Hanna came in our bed in the middle of the night. Well I don’t know if Id use the word Thankfully but It was definitely her and not me. Not exactly how I wanted to start the day at 6am but I got lots done. lol …preparing me for waking up super early all the time right?¬†

So I know she will come in her own time. In the mean time I am enjoying…story time at the local library and the splash pool. Along with the hilarious things my kids have come up. Being a stay at home mom for this short period is fulfilling and exhausting all at the same time. Probably because I am huge and yet this is the less amount of weight I have gained during any pregnancy. Kinda proud of myself.¬†

In the mean time I’ve also been crocheting and enjoying Blogs..and pinterest. Its a dangerous world I live in folks. Here are few of my recent favorites.

http://www.mooglyblog.com/ Moogly Blog

She does cool round ups of free crochet patterns and projects. Kinda amazing. Heres are few of my favorites I’ve seen recently..

Bonbon Kisses Crochet Pouch! Free #crochet pattern from Mooglyblog.com

http://www.mooglyblog.com/bonbon-kisses-crochet-pouch/

I made one and I’m just waiting to buy a clasp. Mine is all purple though, it was fun. I’m afraid its a little bit bigger but it fits my iphone and I kinda LOVE that. Since soon I will be throwing my cellphone and wallet in a diaper bag.

http://happyhooligans.ca/ Happy Hooligans

She has amazing outdoor activities for toddlers. We did this car wash idea the other day. My kids have asked to do it every time we go outside now. lol

muddy car wash - an awesome backyard muddy, water activity for kids

http://happyhooligans.ca/muddy-car-wash/ We did not do the MUD because I am not that brave.

if you have kids that are between the ages of 3-5 her facebook/pinterest/blog is totally worth followin

I hope you enjoy these two blogs, they really are amazing!!! I’m off to see what the screaming/giggling is about.¬†

Have a crafty Summer!! Hopefully soon I will have some photos of  sweet Mikaela should she decide to arrive.

I am updating my etsy shop with items that are ready to go! Be sure to check it out ūüôā

Long Time..no post

Poor Poor Blog…

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year. We were blessed to be with my husbands family in IL for two weeks. It was truly a gift.

My kids enjoyed the snow. Hanna asked when she saw it..where are the penguins? and then later told me..Someone needs to clean this snow up mom..its bothering me. ūüôā Oh to be ¬†3, and one day 5 as she tells me.¬†

Kyle wanted to roll around in the snow. : ) I wanted to get them a little sled but Daddy said no..so I got them shovels. It didn’t really matter..we were out there for what I think was..umm..4 minutes. Kye’s pants were soaked by crawling around in it. ha!

We were able to see my love and my Brother In Law on Christmas morning through the wonder that is SKYPE, which I know made it even more special for the kids. They were so cute make sure that they ran over and showed them all of their gifts, and there were a lot of gifts.

However..this is what Kyle enjoyed playing with the most. A box and an old toy that lives at Grandma Kitty’s and Gramps. oh my.

While we were in IL, I¬†received¬†a text that my childhood best friend had a stroke and was in ICU. I don’t think I have too many childhood memories that don’t involve her. We were very blessed to grow up in church together, we did our girls program at church, sang together, went to camp together, switched clothes at church…drove our mothers crazy together. ūüôā When I had back surgery, I remember I couldn’t go up and down stairs and they had stairs at the entry of their home and her dad carried me up and down the stairs so I could see her. Another favorite memory is putting on her dad’s dress socks and sliding across their kitchen floor and sitting on my parents counters after swimming with a bowl of salsa and chips just ¬†chatting!

When we were in High School, they moved and we saw less and less of each other but she is one of those precious friends who no matter how long you’ve gone, its like you were together every day. She invited me to be in her wedding when we were in college. Our youngest kids are “birthday buddies” just like our moms. Callie was born on the 6th and Kyle on the 7th. She loves Jesus with all of her heart, and is a shining example of HIS love to others. She is an inspiration. She’s been in ICU for a week, and is able to respond with blinking to yes and no questions which is a miracle in itself. Several – thousands – have joined together to pray for her total restoration and for her family, her husband Kris, and three darling children: Abigail, Ethan and Callie. You can do- follow her story on Facebook: Pray for Holly Gilstrap. ¬†www.hollygilstrap.com I know the Lord is restoring her and look forward to visiting with her again. I don’t ask for much on my blog, but would you pray for Holly?

I had a tremendous blessing this Christmas with selling hats on my Etsy shop and facebook…so much I had to turn hats away..I hate that feeling so I am working this year on stocking up : ) Look for exciting things to come for While You Were Napping.

My husband and I are starting a new tradition this year is selecting a word or a theme for the year. One that we can kinda look to for the year. I’m going to put up in our home and hopefully over the years we will grow a collection and be able to look back and reflect on faith family and friends. This year our word is TRUST. Being a military family, especially one with a loved one deployed we are learning to trust that God knows our every move. We are leaning on HIM and not our own understanding. (Prov 3:5-6) We never know where the ARMY will take us but we TRUST that God does. ūüôā Personally I am trusting God for my friends Healing, I am trusting Him to lead us in decisions about finances, school, well pretty much everything.¬†

I hope the New Year has started well for you Blog World! Hopefully once we get back in to the swing of things..I wont be so neglectful..lol

Trusting HIM,

Amanda

These are a few of my favorite things!!! Hopefully its stuck in your head now too. lol Sorry!

I recently bought some new crochet patterns. One from a new shop and I love them, I probably bought too many. I’ve only had a chance to make one because as soon as I posted the photo…I had orders from friends and family : ) They are so sweet to me!

I adjusted it and made Mickey too : )

The pattern is by: http://www.facebook.com/LizzzieeCrochet Great prices and easy to follow pattern. Im in love with this one and excited to try the other ones I purchased.

If anyone is interested, I am selling them 1- $15, 2 – $24, and 3-$34, you can email me at whileyouwerenapping@yahoo.com for more details if you would like. I also purchased this one from a designer <Boomer Beanies> I have been admiring for a while but afraid to try her patterns, didnt know if my skill was up to par but I’m gonna try it. Maybe I’ll make me and Hanna matching ones ; ) How cute would that be!

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pretty-ponytail-child-and-teen-adult This is her photo, not mine just sharing an awesome pattern I found. Hopefully I will have one of my own work soon.

should be doing laundry

my daughter had an accident today that immediately made my regret the ” we’ll be fine with just going to the laundry mat for a year” decision. Oh how I miss my washer dryer. After this year, we shall never ever part again.

The woes of a housewife : )

I am up hoping to catch the hubs online before heading to bed. So I watched a movie “October Baby” SO GOOD, a tearjerker, watch out. I finished up some cute little beanies for my Etsy Shop. I normally try to make neutral or boy things but these were just too pretty pink yarns that needed to be made into hats.

0-3 Girls Owl Hat - Ready to Ship

https://www.etsy.com/listing/113286651/0-3-girls-owl-hat-ready-to-ship

Arent they precious?

The most popular item in my shop right now is this little guy:

Pacistache - Mustache Pacifier

https://www.etsy.com/listing/105800271/pacistache-mustache-pacifier?ref=v1_other_2

I’ve made more little black mustaches than I know what to do! I also learned in an order about a great cause: Movember

http://us.movember.com/about/ My father and uncle are both Prostate Cancer survivors. I think this is just an awesome cause!

Today was a really great day…We had a lunch/playdate with some friends from church. Some of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met, and tomorrow we are having lunch with some more sweet girls who are celebrating ¬†a homecoming for one of her girls. We are truly blessed this deployment to be surrounded by people who are so supportive and loving. And to top it all off, we have church on Sunday! If you aren’t able to attend church and wanna join us via radio check it out: radio.lawtonfirst.org We’d love to have you join us.

Welp I don’t think hes going to be on and I have two of the most beautiful sleeping angels who are going to probably wake up early..and I have my laundry that I played “hooky” from tonight (get it? I crocheted instead..”hooky” ok maybe its just funny to me).

Hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

faith trust and pixie dust

Well we celebrated Hanna Banana’s birthday early so that my dad and husband could be a part since they will be working when she actually turns the big golden 3!

Tyler made Hanna’s cake! I think it looked awesome. It was funfetti and strawberry. We used little plastic figures from a book her grandma got her and it worked out great:

Image

He’s always so hard on himself and I think he does an awesome job! Here’s Hanna’s other birthday cakes hes done:

The traditional 1 and we had a very fall themed party at the pumpkin patch in Chickasha Oklahoma: Red Silo Farms..http://www.redsiloproductions.com/home.html amazing place!

Hanna’s 2nd birthday, OWL Themed..whoo whoo is turning 2! It was very fun.

This year I had planned to do Bubbles and Chalk like at Hanna’s 2 year old party but..it was dark and gloomy! Yikes..so we switched plans and planned to make fairy wings (which was very appealing to little girls) However..I should have used cardboard instead of poster board. Thanks to our friend Amber and her mad hot gluing skills.

My mom also made balloon animals, and balloon ray guns and hats. They were pretty excited about that. I think it lived up to all that she had been hoping for in her little 2-almost-3 year old heart. Kyle got her a new Tinkerbell movie and while they were watching it Hanna looked over at Kye and told him “you picked a good one brother” ūüôā melts my heart!

We also got great news from Hanna’s eye doctor that her vision has been improved by wearing her glasses! I’m so proud of Hanna for being so diligent in wearing her glasses and taking care of them. Also extremely thankful for a great doctor. It takes us 1 1/2 hours to get there and we are never there longer than 20-30 minutes wait time included. They are truly professionals.¬†

Life has been so blessed at the Wescott House! I haven’t had a ton of hours at work so I’ve been putting some more efforts in my ETSY shop¬†http://www.etsy.com/shop/Whileyouwerenapping?ref=si_shop¬†and had several orders this week. Which is so encouraging. I’ve also been able to attend stuff at church like the Ladies Bible Study and a Mom’s group. We’ve had to change our budget some and its taking some adjusting but we’re getting a routine. I’m thankful to have an amazing husband, I know I say it quite a bit but I truly am blessed.

Welp..Mr Kyle is awake !!

Hugs, Amanda

Dino Mystery Solved

so..Orange the dinosaur has been spending time with Tyler at work. Hanna was kinda annoyed that I asked her today where he was..but she told me that Green his little brother was at home with her.  : )

Tyler did solve the mystery about why Hanna keeps running to the door and telling us the dinosaur is going to get us..

We just moved from a town home to a lovely 1 story apartment. We live downstairs. The lady that lives upstairs tends to drop stuff and apparently marches at times. Not sure how she would feel knowing that an almost 3 year old thinks shes a dinosaur.

I laughed so hard! I kept thinking about her Elmo Dinosaur video where they tell the kids to “STOMP STOMP” like the dinosaurs.¬†

My Hanna, so creative. : )

So I’ve created a facebook page (I know take a day off and come back full force with 2 pages! lol..Trying to sell some crafts guys! : ) Do any of you have a facebook page for your business? Thoughts? Good/Bad?

Its not so hot right now but if you wanna go like it in good faith that it will get better : ) I’d be so grateful!

http://www.facebook.com/WhileYouWereNapping

Id love to hear your feedback!

Sweet Dino Dreams!

In family news we have a new member to our little family…Orange. Orange the Dinosaur. It all started a few mornings ago when Hanna told me we had to hurry or the dinosaur would get us while we were in the bathroom. Then she started picking up her toys quickly later that afternoon and when I asked her why she said…so my dinosaur no eat them. So we sat down and I asked her about this dino.

Hanna what is your dinosaurs name?

Orange

Oh thats nice, what color is he

Orange

of course he is. What does he like to eat?

him like sghetti.

my kinda of dinosaur. lol

All of our sweet friends keep telling me that imaginary friends are a sign of intelligence.  : ) I have no doubt my kiddo is a genius. Although we did have to kinda frown upon Orange eating her imaginary friend Beth (who is apparently named after her REAL LIFE friend Beth!)

Oh how I love that girl!

Kyle has discovered hugs and while shrug his little shoulders and say “no” if he doesn’t “know” where something that you ask him is at. : ) Last night he snuggled under his pillow and fell fast asleep while I was putting sister to bed. He has such a sweet spirit. Unless of course you aren’t giving him what he wants…oh man then watch out : ) We are working on it. Lots of prayer..oh Lord lots of prayer. ¬†: )

Kinda blurry but you get the idea : )

Welp I’m gonna go snuggle with a movie and some yarn..maybe some icecream : ) Hope everyone has a great night and thank you for stopping by and peeking in on our corner of the world.

Hugs

the Netherlands!

who would have ever thought I would have an international order in my Etsy shop? Certainly not me!

There is going to be a cute little sporting this cute horse hat:

Baby Horse Beanie Size 0-3 months

Time to list another, this is the second one that I have sold. : ) Great Pattern from Crochet My Love.

I’ve actually had 2 items sold this week, exciting stuff. If you are interested in visiting my little spot its:

http://www.etsy.com/shop/Whileyouwerenapping

I have conquered a pattern that took me a while but I am super excited and feel that I’m a better crocheter for doing so..here is a cute new listing that I put up from it:

Baby Pink Booties

This pattern can be purchased here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/ebethalan

The Lovely Crow has great patterns, and a ton or resources to get them done. I loved it! I also ordered a little cowboy pattern. I have a dear friend that I worked with in California who just had a little boy and his get up is all western, so I knew I wanted to send a cute little something…

Photo: Thanks so much for my super cute hat & boots Amanda Wescott!!

But I had no idea of the cuteness I would encounter. I know hes a super big blessing to his family, and such a good model ūüôā ¬†

We took our Hanna to the eye doctor on Wednesday and her vision has gotten a little worse so..she will be sporting these glamorous specs she picked out:
Photo: Hanna's new glasses

I think she just looks so cute! She is still crossing her eyes a little so we go back in 2 months to see if ultimately she needs another surgery. She did really great at the doctors office. Dr. Mark Scott and his team are so amazing at what they do. When we left Hanna told me, he my friend mommy. : )

Welp thats about it well besides that the youngest member of the Wescott Family has learned to say Uh-oh which is really cute but he also has learned to say “no” and understand the meaning of it. Not so cute : )¬†

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=569338485727&set=vb.177600451&type=2&theater Here is a cute video of him showing off his new verbal skills. : )

Hope you have a great week!
